Colts QB Peyton Manning came out on to the practice field for the first time in months after being reactivated from the Physically Unable to Perform list after his neck injury earlier this year.
After being put on the PUP for nearly a month now, the four-time MVP jogged on to the field in his No. 18 jersey, giving hope to thousands of his fans that he may really be able to play in the season opener due in Houston on September 11. Though that fact is yet to be confirmed, a positive-sounding Peyton Manning said of his break from the Colts and his possible comeback at the season opener, “That’s kind of been my goal all along, trying to get better and I know everybody’s into predictions and everybody wants to have the breaking news. But I just can’t give you any more than what I’m giving you.”
Peyton Manning said that he wouldn’t be playing in Thursday’s preseason finale in Cincinnati. Though he said that he feels healthy enough now to “take a snap or play a series to keep his consecutive-games streak intact,” he insists that he’s not about to do that. “Like I said the other night, I have to be able to competitively play. I have too much respect for football. I’ve got to be able to compete and to help my team win, and that’s what’s fair to the team, fair to myself.” The Colts will sure be glad to have him back on the field but at this point it may be too early to say what his first game will be after being taken off the PUP list.
