HomeSportsNew Big Ten logo a dismal flop, rivals Gap as worst logo change ever
Posted in Sports on 14th December 2010

In what was described as the work of “high school graphic arts student designed in 2 minutes, while under the influence of salvia”, the new big ten logo has hit the floor hard. The poor imagery that the new logo brings already has college football fans and Big Ten followers destroying it wherever they find it.

The fiasco with the design for the logo has been compared to the equally catastrophic attempt by Gap to bring a fresh brand image to the public. In the Gap debacle, supporters of the company were so frustrated that they took their displeasure to the social network Facebook, painting their ire all over the internet and forcing the company to hastily revert to their old logo. The new Big Ten logo is receiving very similar reviews, with fans asking “Just what is the point of having a “1″ in place of the “I” in the logo?”

In a fickle and fiery world of sports fans, a disappointment of the magnitude that the new Big Ten logo has achieve is a rare show of how disconnected corporate America is with the general public. Critics suspect that the new Big Ten logo may be pulled out by the marketing department once the tremors of public displeasure reach them; whether that will happen or not is a matter of speculation, but what is certain is that almost nobody is supporting the new Big Ten logo.
